1975
Founded in 1975 as Information Builders, ibi is an innovator in the world of business intelligence and analytics. We launched FOCUS 4GL on time-sharing machines, with a vision toward self-service business intelligence.
1980s
We anticipated the pivot to the personal computer by building an adapter factory to access virtually any data source.
1990s
Advanced business intelligence through client/server architecture when middleware was king. In 1997, we launched WebFOCUS, the first purely browser based BI tool.
2000s
Entering the 2000s, we created apps and new ways to explore data when mobile, cloud, search and social media entered the conversation.
2010s
We lead the future of data and analytics by merging cloud, embedded analytics, AI and data management. In 2020, we were acquired by TIBCO.

ibi is proud to provide a scalable data and analytics software platform as a business unit of Cloud Software Group

Ali Ahmed, General Manager
Ali Ahmed is General Manager of the ibi Business Unit at Cloud Software Group, where he is also responsible for the TIBCO, Jaspersoft, Foresight and Data Synapse portfolio of products. Previously Ali was SVP of Engineering at TIBCO, where he led enterprise solutions engineering, products and technology.
Over his 21-year tenure at TIBCO/ibi, he has held a number of leadership roles across engineering, including Head of Global Engineering Services, and he brings deep expertise in delivering high quality products and managing large engineering teams worldwide. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and an MBA from Osmania University.
Dan Ortolani, Vice President, ibi Business Unit
Dan Ortolani is currently Vice President of Customer Support Engineering at Cloud Software Group. Dan is a proven senior executive in the tech industry, with a 30+ year record of leadership and achievement in all aspects of Customer Support, Customer Success and Product Management. At Cloud Software Group he leads Customer Support and Customer Success for products that service over 2,000 enterprise customers worldwide. These responsibilities include providing technical support for the company’s data management and analytics products as well as ensuring industry-leading customer satisfaction and retention. Dan’s primary focus is to grow leaders and build teams who share his passion for great products that help customers to achieve their business objectives.
Prior to joining the Cloud Software Group, Dan held senior positions in Customer Support and Product Management at Information Builders and TIBCO Software. His career accomplishments in those roles include the creation and successful scaling of many products and programs such as the WebFOCUS analytics product line, cloud-based SaaS and Managed Services offerings and innovative customer retention programs.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Sacred Heart University and completed Stanford University’s Executive College program.
Gianfranco Naso, Head of Sales, Europe
Gianfranco Naso is the Head of Sales of ibi's Europe region. With over 30 years of experience in sales and leading sales teams within multinational companies active in the software and system integration sectors, Gianfranco excels at developing and managing complex organizations through a direct or indirect go to market approach.
His in-depth knowledge of the leading players in the key markets for which he is responsible allows Naso to understand their needs and address them more effectively.
In addition to his experience gained at TIBCO/ibi, Gianfranco has held roles as Sales Manager in companies such as Progress Software, BMC Software Italia and previously as sales manager within the Siemens Informatica group.
